Voice, without the instruments

Sakinah removes the instruments from the videos you watch, as you watch, and keeps every voice as it is: speech, Quran, nasheeds and the adhan. On your device, free.

Remove instruments

On: instruments removed

Try the switch — this is how it looks in the extension and app

  • Free

How it works

Three steps. Nothing technical.

  1. 1
    Install Sakinah
A browser extension, an Android app, or open the web app.
  2. 2
    Turn on “Remove instruments”
One switch. No account, no settings to learn.
  3. 3
    Keep watching
The instruments fade out; voices stay clear.

What stays, what goes?

A clear gold voice wave stays while the noise around it fades
Stays
  • Speech and dialogue
  • Quran recitation
  • Nasheeds
  • The adhan
  • Singing voice
Goes
  • Musical instruments
  • Background music under speech
  • Musical intros and jingles
  • Usually sound effects too

We keep the whole human voice, because Quran and nasheeds are part of what you want to hear.

Where does Sakinah work?

On your computer and your phone — where you actually watch.

A laptop, a phone and a tablet
Browser extension
Chrome and Firefox: tested on YouTube, Shorts and Instagram Reels; you can add other sites. Plus an HQ mode for videos on your computer.
Android app
Phone-wide: works with Android apps that allow audio capture (e.g. YouTube). We will publish the list of tested apps.
Web app
Clean an audio or video file right in your browser. It never leaves your device.
Soon
iPhone
We’re exploring a Safari extension and an in-app player. Apple doesn’t allow changing other apps’ sound.

What you watch stays with you

Sakinah runs entirely on your device. We don’t need to know what you watch.

  • No audio or video is uploaded
  • No account, no sign-in
  • No ads, no tracking
  • Works offline once installed
  • We will publish the source code so anyone can check

How is Sakinah different?

Compared with the kinds of tools available today, from their public pages (October 2026).

Examples: cloud players such as HaramMute; speech filters such as NoMusic; file tools such as LALAL.AI, Moises and UVR. “Partly” means it varies between tools or we could not verify it. Speech filters are designed for speech; we have not yet tested their effect on singing.

For the curious: technical details

Numbers from our test on 44 Arabic clips (speech, Quran, adhan, nasheeds, songs, instrumental music).

Real-time model (DFN3+)
2.2 M parameters, 40 ms delay, runs on any phone or PC CPU
Voice kept
15.6 dB match to the reference separator; speech and Quran 25–31 dB
Instrument-only music
Brought down to −62 dB (silent) — better than the big reference model (−36 dB)
HQ mode
Much better on songs, ~0.8 s delay, for videos and audio

Weak spots today: songs with full bands, and Egyptian mahraganat. Being improved in v2.

For developers

A planned npm library that adds “remove instruments” to any <video> or <audio> you own. Runs in the browser with an AudioWorklet and WASM.

npm install @nomusic/web

import { attach } from '@sakinahaudio/web'

const c = attach(video, { wasmUrl, modelUrl })
c.disable() // original sound, stays in sync
c.destroy()

Source code and the library will be published (package name is provisional).
